The Koro people settled north of the junction of the Niger and Benue rivers in Eastern Nigeria. Anthropomorphic vessels such as this are called gbene and were used for ritual beer and palm wine libations. Supposedly the double bowl carved in the abdomen of the figure enabled two people to drink at the same time.Further images
